Prom Style: The Hair

So, Prom is just around the corner (Kinda), so it’s time to start thinking about what look you’re going to rock for the night!

In THIS post we’re going to be talking Hair.  Depending on the kind of hair you have, you could take the look a thousand different directions.  The overall feel for this years style trend is a soft, romantic look.  If you have long hair — maybe try out the Side-do!  It’s different, fun, and gorgeous!!

Here are a few websites with tons of ideas on how to style your hair for prom.
Most of the pages have galleries within them to keep you busy. :D

Have some heart, get some stuff. (win – win?)

We want to help with the relief efforts in Haiti, so for every session booked between now and February 28, we will donate $25 to the American Red Cross.
To sweeten the deal a little, if you book to donate, we’ll toss in a free 11×14 print! (Um.. $60 value? yeah… it’s worth it)

Senior Portraits in Shingle Springs (Ft. Jenn)

Ok,  I like Jenn so much, we decided to shoot just a little more.  This girl is ROCKIN!

We did a mini studio session, played a bit with makeup colors and here’s what we came up with:
It’s almost as though she is working on her modeling headshots… She has such a great artillery of poses, and beautiful deep expressions, I’m just super blessed that I get to call her friend, and have the opportunity to shoot her!

Jenn — The camera loves you, and so do I!

Folsom Senior Portraits (ft. Stephanie)

This is Stephanie… everybody — say “Hi Stephanie!”

:-D

I met Stephanie on Facebook.   She, coincidentally, is a friend of another rep of ours, Austin.  Our original photo date was to be in Old Sacramento, but because of unforeseen circumstances, we ended up in Folsom.  I’m SO glad we did, too!

Stephanie rocked that little town!  She has a bright beautiful smile that just doesn’t stop, and a wonderful attitude that just glows through her pictures.

Thanks Stephanie for coming out and shooting with me.  I’m so glad you’re our other Folsom  High Rep!

Senior Portraits in El Dorado Hills (ft. Ashley)

SO, I have to take a big, deep breath before writing this, because I just KNOW I’m going to babble.

Ashley and I got together last night for some Senior Rep shooting, and I can’t even  begin to tell you how much FUN I had working with her!

We met in Town Center and shot around a little bit… she knew exactly what would make her look good, and worked it!  She didn’t even care that it was the last Concert in Town Center night, and there were tons of people around.  I was really impressed.

What impressed me even more, though, is that as we were crossing Town Center, she gasped and said “Hey!  It’s a Newfoundland!”   I was confused, but thought, “ok”  As it turns out, a Newfoundland is a dog.  (I didn’t know this.  I don’t know many dog breeds or how to tell them apart even.)  A Newfoundland is not just a dog though, it’s a BIG dog… a VERY BIG DOG.  So Ashley and her little teeny adorable self trots over there, and I first think — hm… that dog could eat her, or even just sit on her and cause lots of damage, but she assured me that she has one, and she’s used to them.  Then I think… ooh!  How cute it would be to get a picture.  Well, the dog didn’t seem to think so, and avoided the camera at all cost, almost running away with Ashley in tow.

I was still impressed by how well she handled the ridiculously giant dog.

Anyway, we left Town Center, but stayed in El Dorado Hills, heading over to the Library where she worked her magic just a little bit more, allowing for some breathtaking shots.

Well done, love.  Well done.  You made choosing the blog shots really difficult ( I told you it would happen), but very fun, nonetheless.

Thanks!

El Dorado Hills Senior Portraits (ft. Austin)

So, can somebody call American Eagle please?  I think  I found their missing model…  (winkwink)

Austin is one of our first Senior Portrait Representatives of 2009,  and I couldn’t have asked for more than every pose, smile and glare he shot my direction.

I met Austin on Facebook, and we chatted a little about the shoot, and  scheduled the shoot for Town Center in El Dorado Hills.  Perfect setting!  He and his Grandmother came out and oh man, was I surprised when he knew exactly what to do with very little coaching!   The shoot went significantly quicker than I had expected because of that, and the outcome was fantastic!   ( I actually wish that I had spent a little while doing pictures with Grandma too… She is GORGEOUS!)

Of course, he mentions after we’ve already gotten through a good chunk of the shoot — “oh-by-the-way… my dad was a model too”.   Hmmm maybe the good looks are in the genes? (or jeans…hahahaha I crack myself up)

Austin — You’re such a rad guy.  Thank you so much for hanging out.  I’m WAY excited about studio shooting with you more in the Spring!

Senior Portraits With Jenn

School is in the air…

That’s right boys and girls, school is almost back in session. Before you start with the moans and groans, take heart… the beginning is means to an end, and May will be here FAR sooner than you realize!

For many of you reading this, this school year is the last you will have to deal with for your high school career, and that means so many things.

For us, it means meeting beautiful people on their way to far bigger and better things and senior portraits!

I’ve had the privilege to spend some time with Jenn in the past as she has assisted us with wedding photography, provided us with giggles, and helped us lighten our pocket knife collection (and what a collection we had… don’t shop from the television at midnight. Trust me. It’s not a good idea), only to re-gift us our own pocket knives a year later.

She’s quirky, SO fun, and incredibly photogenic! For Jenn’s senior portrait session we headed up to Historic Placerville. Downtown Placerville is filled with some fantastic historic spots that make for some really cool senior portrait backdrops. We headed away from some of the typical locations and found some unique locations along Main Street that better fit Jenn’s personality and look.

Thanks Jenn for being our first Senior Portrait Rep of 2010. I hope your Senior year is as wonderful as you are! Congratulations to all you 2010 High School Seniors! You’ve made it, this is your last year in high school. We look forward to meeting you and finding that perfect location for your senior portraits.

Give us a call or shoot us an email. We’d love to talk to you more about how we can create a senior portrait session that fits your personality and captures who you are right now. Don’t settle for the typical cookie cutter senior portraits or just ordering the same image that is going to be in the yearbook. Let’s get together and have some fun with your senior portrait session!
