Sacramento Children’s Portraits – “Cuando Lost Gatos Se Van…”

“Los ratones hacen fiesta.”

In English, that translates to “When the Cats are away, the Mice will play.” It doesn’t really rhyme in spanish, but a friend of mine introduced me to that phrase several years ago now, and I thought it was just the funniest thing.

ANYWAY, on to the post.

Last week, my parents went on a mission trip to Honduras leaving my adorable-hilarious-precocious little brother Jacob in the care of Benjamin and me. I don’t usually get a whole lot of opportunities to hang out and take pictures with Jake and Liam together, so while the parents were away… we three little mice got to play!

Children’s portraiture is so fun, because you never know what you’re going to get from them. Kids are so unpredictable, and so amazing with the depth of the emotions they carry for having so few years under their belt.

This is the face Jacob gets when you tell him that there ARE in fact games on the iPhone, but no, he may not play them. hahaha.

I LOVE LOVE L O V E This series of him. It’s SO his personality.

WRESTLE TIME! One day, Jake, One day… You will likely not be the bigger of the two of you.

Sacramento Infant Portraits with Baby A!

God made the world with towering trees,
majestic mountains, and restless seas.
Then paused and said, It needs one more thing….
someone to laugh and dance and sing.
To walk in the woods and gather flowers…
to commune with nature in quiet hours.”
So God made little girls with laughing eyes
and bouncing curls,
with joyful hearts,
and infectious smiles,
enchanting ways and
feminine wiles.
And when He’d completed the task He’d begun,
He was pleased and proud of the job He’d done.
For the world, when seen through a little girl’s eyes
greatly resembled Paradise.

I found that poem today and it totally reminded me of little A. Such sweet eyes, delicious little cheeks and when her smile happens, it’s just the cutest darm things… she absolutely glows.

We had A’s family over yesterday to hang out a little, take some pictures, carb up, and I have to say, they’re just rad. We had some fun and at the end of the day, got some amazing pictures of all three!

Thank you guys for coming so early! I know it was outside of your normal schedule. You are awesome!

Sacramento Delta King Wedding with DJ and Nicole

Nicole and DJ are such a fun couple. We almost instantly became good friends with them during their engagement shoot. Being a part of their wedding, sharing their day with them and capturing some amazing images was like icing on the friendship cake that we had already developed.

We had been looking forward to being a part of a wedding on the Sacramento Delta King for quite awhile; DJ and Nicole came along and made that happen. The Delta King is a beautiful place for a wedding and affords some great places to capture some really fun pictures.

In addition to the great staff at the Delta King we had the opportunity to work with Sound Image Entertainment. Thank you Brandon and Kami for the phenomenal job you did with all of the lighting, Disc Jockeying and wedding coordination. It was a pleasure to working with and getting to know you. We look forward to our continued relationship.

Congratulations Nicole and DJ! We are so excited for you both! We are so happy to been a part of your wedding and for the friendship we have found in you and your family. Thank you so much for letting us capture your love story.

Loomis Flower Farm Wedding with Abby and Derek

We had a chance last Friday, August 7th, to photograph Abby and Derek’s wedding. The Flower Farm, in Loomis, was an amazing choice for their sunny theme, and the August heat was nowhere to be found! It’s like Summer decided to take a day off. Bright yellows and whites were a perfect compliment to their wedding photographs, although, black and white photography seemed to suit them well too.

Abby and I realized early on in the day that we’re both so spunky and well… super rad, that if we knew each other in high school, we totally would have hung out or at least eaten lunch together or something. :-D She’s such a fun girl, and Derek fits her so perfectly. We had lots of laughs, and enjoyed every minute of the whole day.

The love that Abby and Derek hold for each other is overwhelming, the road that lies ahead for them is paved with so much happiness. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Adams. I believe so completely that God has blessed you two in ways that you’ll be discovering for years to come.
